Monsanto is Taking Over the Government!

Can you believe it?!  There is actually a bill with Monsanto’s name on it, coming up for a vote in Congress, intended to suppress states’ rights to legislate labeling of GMO foods.

WHAT!!!????

http://action.fooddemocracynow.org/call/stop_the_Monsanto_Promotion_Act_now/?t=3&akid=1830.1151461.YDNBOR

“The Monsanto Promotion Act”????

Since when does “our government”  promote…PROMOTE!  Private business giant monopolies?  Isn’t that illegal?  And isn’t it illegal to hobble the constitutional rights of the people to use the legislative process and the protections it allegedly affords us?

Please read this website and make the call!

I’m having a rough day today and if I can manage a post I will explain my recent silence.  But this came up and I had to put it out there.  I’m not sure I can make the call myself, as I can’t seem to talk today, but that means it’s all the more important that YOU do!!!

Please share this far and wide on your blogs, social media of all kinds…FRANKENFOOD MUST NOT BE ALLOWED TO BECOME PART OF OUR GOVERNMENT!!!!

Thank you.

PTSD

There are many reasons one can develop post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD.) Previously known as shell shock, tells you that soldiers on the battle field, when they came home developed it. War is an awful, sick thing, and what soldiers see and experience in war is something NO ONE should ever have to be a part of.

Soldiers get flashbacks, where they might have nightmares about or feel as though those horrible, traumatic events are happening again.

They have massive amounts of anxiety and fear and may have panic attacks.

They have a much stronger and more easily activatable startle response.

They can dissociate, where they feel and react as if the things that were happening to them during war, are happening again.

Sometimes, they live in the same fear and terror they experienced in the war.

They may even become agoraphobic, or develop other phobias.

They may use substances or activities to quell their fears, sometimes becoming addicts.

They may experience feelings of great distress and have intense physical reactions.

They may have trouble sleeping, irritability or outbursts of anger, difficulty concentrating, feeling jumpy and being easily startled, and being hypervigilant ( constantly on “red alert”).

This is what happens to soldiers when they come home from wars. But it happens to other people as well. It can happen to people who have been assaulted. It can happen to people who were involved in a terrorist attack. It can happen to people who have experienced the death of a loved one and it can happen to people who were abused as children. That’s my category. After reading about PTSD, I realize that I have been living with many of its symptoms. “Dissociation”, hypervigilance, irritability or anger, reacting like a disaster is happening when it truly is not, having HUGE over reactions to some events. Another thing I think I can attribute to my PTSD is the need to control things and always having butterflies in my stomach and being fearful. And always waiting for the other shoe to drop. The childhood abuse that happened to me robbed me of my peace of mind. It made my mind hypervigilant and anxious, always on alert for the next awful thing that was going to happen. And now, sometimes, I have realized that I even dissociate and react to events, benign events, as though I was being abused again, over reacting :-( This abuse robbed me of my childhood. Well, that’s one thing I’m never getting back. But I can get back my peace of mind, the inner child work I’ve done and continue to do has helped with that. What else can help? Well here’s a self help list:

Spending time in nature

Mindful breathing

Exercise

Listening to uplifting music

Meditation

Invoking relaxation response and often

Socializing and connecting with people

Vocal toning (!) making a mmmm sound until you experience a pleasant sound, seriously, I found it on the internet… so it must work… ;;-)

Taking care of yourself, avoiding drugs and alcohol.

Volunteering!

Support group

There’s even a mobile PTSD App! http://www.ptsd.va.gov/public/materials/apps/PTSDCoach.asp

Basically all things and anything that will increase your relaxation response and decrease anxiety. And for me, of course, reading about abandonment, child abuse, and taking care of my inner child (which I think is the same as your fight or flight response) has been instrumental in my healing process!

Here’s something I found on: http://www.ptsd.va.gov/public/treatment/cope/

Well how about that! Psilocybin leads to more openness!

Amazing, openness was increased, for over a year, in people who were given Psilocybin, the psychoactive molecule of magic mushrooms. The experiment was done in a controlled laboratory environment. Feelings of transcendence were also experienced. But darn, they also experienced fear, anxiety, and distress. Take out those three and count me in as an experimental subject, dear scientists 😉

Sanders- Will he talk about the mental health crisis?

sanders 3Candidates: I have written emails, filled out forms, made phone calls, tweeted, sent FB messages and even drove two hours to attend a rally of one of yours to get my message across that the mental health crisis needs to be talked about.  It is not going away and Americans deserve the right to know what you plan to do to solve it.

Media- You are just as bad.  I have tried to correspond with you all of these ways too. I even was interviewed by a news channel and a newspaper out of Washington when I attended the rally. They were interested that I was an undecided voter that drove two hours.  The news channel interviewed me for about five minutes on camera.  It was not used on air. I suspect why even though they gave me a different story.

I am determined to fight to the bitter end. I, along with other mental health advocates around the United States want answers. We have so many questions accumulated, but we can’t get answers because you won’t even give us a chance to ask them.

I can’t think of any other important issue that has not been covered in the debates, by the media, or the candidates.  The mental health crisis affects everyone and is just important as education, balancing the budget, national security, gun control, etc.

Are we going to get answers from any of them?  I am sick of feeling like I have no voice and made to feel like I am less than a human being. I am being discriminated against because I have a mental illness because the stigma is preventing them from even talking about the subject.

Do you care about the mentally ill and the mental health crisis or not?

I have been saying in all of my blogs that I have made numerous attempts to contact the candidates.  I have decided to give them each a chance.  I called and wrote more to Trump, went to see Cruz, have called and written and shared with you my thoughts on Kasich.

I have contacted all the candidates- democratic and republican

Here is just an example of what I wrote to Bernie Sanders.  I just want to prove that I am trying and I won’t give up.  I will be voting on the 15th. The question is: Will I know who to vote for by then?  Who is going to talk about how they are going to solve the mental health crisis?  Could it actually be Sanders who I would consider to be president because he is the one who starts to talk about the taboo subject: mental illness

LOVE Versus Fear from tinybuddha

You might have noticed I am on a “Love or Fear” kick. After facing my own demons, after having lived in fear for so many years, I want to welcome love into my life. I think if I can become more loving, and live out of love, not fear, I will not only live a positive, happy, love filled life, but I may well be the light that guides other people who are lost in the craggy, dark forests of fear as I was.

This post below is brilliant. Really, if we can read this daily, and live only from the LOVE column, wow, just think what you could become, what I could become, what we and the world could become!

With all my love.

Will Trump Make America Great for Everyone?

americagreatUntil about a year ago, I did not follow politics very much.

However, this election has captured many people’s attention including mine.  I think it’s mainly because of Trump’s outlandish statements that grabbed the attention of the media.

Now, I am hoping that he will get the attention of the media on a topic that affects ALL Americans and has not yet been talked about.

That topic is the mental health crisis.

I have written emails, made phone calls, used Twitter and FB to asking the candidates and the media to talk about the issue of mental health.  I even drove two miles to personally deliver a letter regarding my pleas.  I also was interviewed by a television channel and a newspaper at that event.

However, I don’t hear anything back and my voice seems to have no impact.  Well, I live in NC and am an independent undecided voter waiting to hear how each candidate will SOLVE the mental health crisis.  How am I going to pick the best candidate when they don’t even talk about it?

I already have shared  blogs about specific candidates.  I have already written one about Hillary and Clinton, but this one is dedicated to just Trump.  My hopes that because he gets the national attention that he does, that he has the best chance of getting the candidates to talk about how they are going to SOLVE the mental health crisis.

I have tweeted messages and left phone calls already today.  I understand he is busy and so are his staff. However, like I have said before, if a president can’t hear and respond to every voice in a nation of “people by the people”, then he is not qualified to be the leader-in-chief if you ask me.  That is beside the point.

I wanted to share with you the message I left on his form and the email I wrote to him. My voice mail messages said pretty much the same thing.  Will he answer them?  If not, I am going to have to assume he does not care about the mentally ill and the mental health crisis any more than any other candidate.

Message via email saying I would volunteer if he talks about the mental health crisis:

(Message sent via his form from his website is below my signature on this one.)

To whom it may concern (hopefully Trump will see this):

I would be willing to help volunteer in any way that I can in Winston Salem, NC  from now until the primaries. I would then help Trump get elected in the general election. It would be Great to See America again.

However, I have to admit that as of right now, I am an undecided (independent) voter and in order for me to help in every way I can think of, I would like for him to come to Winston and talk about an issue that affects every American yet has been a taboo subject so far in the debates.
If he can get the topic discussed and comes up with a good solution, he will have my vote and I am sure the support of many other advocates.  We make up more than 25% of vote.  In my blog article (link below), I also give some suggestions of what he can do to solve it.
Before reading the rest of this, I want you to know that I have graduated from college, was a manager of a movie theater and a teacher for 9 years-even Teacher of the Year one year. However, I have bipolar disorder.
WAIT, PLEASE , if you think I am crazy because I have a mental illness and am a mental health advocate, please don’t.  If you think my vote does not matter, then don’t. I, along with other mental health advocates will be voting in NC. PLEASE before dismiss what I am saying, talk to a mentally ill person or their family member.  Think about the tragedies that are caused by the mentally ill.  Please get Trump to  talk about this important and critical issue.
Articles that explain why it is important that he addresses this issue:

Largest Advocacy Group on FB: Mental Health Advocacy Group
Blog for Bipolar Bandit (thousands of views every day)
I also help out with other FB groups and know a lot of well known advocates. In addition, I organized an event that focused on mental health in Winston Salem and that is the main reason I have the connections. However, I have also served on boards that deal with the mentally ill.
Message sent via form on his website:

I am an independent UNDECIDED voter living in NC who will be voting on the 15th.  Honestly, Trump is not on the top of my list of people to vote for.  However, I would do everything I could to help win in NC if he were to get the other candidates to talk about how they would SOLVE the mental health crisis and he had a good solution.  At the bottom of the message I included a link to some great ideas of what he could do.

One in four people have a mental illness. They all have friends and family.  All Americans are affected because of the national tragedies.  However, the candidates avoid the topic like the plague.

As a mental health advocate who has a way to contact over 200,000 mental health advocates locally and via social media, I would like to know what his stance is. I can verify this if asked.

I have contacted the other candidates via email, FB, Twitter, and phone calls. I actually even hand delivered a letter (drove two hours) asking for a candidate to talk about mental health in the national spotlight. ( This can be documented in several way including two interviews by the media. I also would be happy to share with you who that candidate was if you were to talk about mental health.)

I can get local mental health advocates together to ask him questions and can get a venue for him that holds 2,000 people. However, with his crowds and pull, there are other places locally that he could use.

Please let him know that I, and other mental health advocates would like to base our decision on who to vote for now and in the general election on how they would  solve the mental health crisis.  How can we do that if they don’t even talk about it?

Candidates-Do you care about the mentally ill? PROVE IT!

In summary, if you have gotten this far:

Does Trump care enough about the mentally ill and the mental health crisis to actually talk about it and get the other candidates to do so also?

Does Trump care about the vote of the mentally ill, including mine?

Is he brave enough to come to an event where mental health advocates get to ask him questions?

Time will tell, but if he doesn’t confront it in the campaign, I can tell him that we,the mentally ill “crazy” people can and will vote. You can’t build a wall around us, Trump!

Very wise words! ☺️

Forgot Again

to write yesterday.  But my youngest came home from her grandparent’s with the flu.  SO I spent yesterday at the doctor’s office and pharmacy and trying to get her relief from throwing up and stomachache.  SO I was busy.

I’m so sleepy.  She was up for about three hours last night throwing up.  SO I was up with her.  I’ ve laid down this morning but not slept watching out for her. And I’m off cokes so there aren’t’ any in the house. So I am really sleepy.

At least I don’t’ have anything pressing to do today.  So I am just going to hang out and see what happens.

Other than the sleepiness, I feel pretty decent. I’m so glad of that.  I turned in my latest essay and can’t wait to see what my professor says about it. I hope she likes it.

Plz Plz Plz Make it STOP

I think I am okay-ish today. Was a bitch to drag my ass out of bed, but aren’t all mornings. I have all a.m. meds on board, thus far no lithium nausea.

No, last night was the uber epic bitch of it all.

I could feel my mood slipping, feel myself shivering cos one day it’s 80 and I am wearing shorts and a tank top, the next it’s in the thirties and I can’t get warm enough…It just drained me. So I took my 3mg Melatonin at 8 p.m. figuring, it’s taking longer and longer to kick in, this should have me out by ten thirty.

How wrong I was.

Instead…It was a two hour cyclone of racing thoughts, tossing, turning. Getting up to pee cos I am now drinking an ass ton of water since my tastebuds dictate all other things vile. The cats always want fed and watered or stomp my head with their claws. Just one thing after the other keeping me from calming down.

Yes, professionals. I tried deep cleansing breaths. I tried picturing the stop sign. I counted backwards in odds from a thousand. But of course, my attention span minus Focalin is such that I get lost within the first forty numbers and have to start over, which is one more thing to annoy and stress me out.

I took 1mg Xanax, thinking tornado brain didn’t stand  a chance against the combo, they HAD to knock me out.

Wrong again.

More counting, more stop signs.

By 11 p.m. I was so frustrated I literally moaned into my pillow, “God, make it stop, please, please, please!”

I don’t think mundanes grasp just horrid the racing thoughts are. Oh, sure, everyone has a lot on their mind and occasional experience racing thoughts and inability to get to sleep.

But to lead life in that constant state, every single day and night…

How I am not a serial killer or on lock down at the rubber ramada is a mystery. This shit practically had me in tears last night.

I want to go to the home of the idgets who deemed my insurance can no longer pay for Focalin. I want to recite every circling thought I have at max volume in its normal cadence of whiplash speed. I want to keep them awake, unnerved and stressed out. I want them to determine having seen what this shit is like that it doesn’t need an affordable med.

Then after that I wanna visit my doctor and the pharmacy and share this big bucket of imbalanced med crazy they started with all them all through the night. You almost drifted off. NO NO NO LOOK A BUNNY omg, I think I peed a little I laughed so hard the other day DID YOU JUST REALLY JUST FART IN BED THAT IS SO…guinea pigs are so cute…Oh, pigs, hey, how’s that kid I went to school with that always wore her hair in pig tails in second grade…

YEAH. It’s exactly like that, motherfuckers.
